Scene 1 — On the way to Gerry’s…
Me: Dan! Excited na ‘ko, kakain ako ng Korean mamayang gabi.
Dan: Babae o lalaki?
Lesson learned: Always make sure a proper adjective is always followed by the noun it describes.

Scene 2 — At Gerry’s…
Abi (tipsy over SanMig Lights, hands me a 20-peso bill): Pam, bili mo ‘ko hotdog…
(I go to the nearest Banchetto booth to buy her one but I come back empty-handed.)
Me: Abi, wala na hotdog… puro barbecue na lang…
Abi (rummages for money in her bag and produces 2 ten-peso coins, hands it over to me as well): O ito, bili mo na’ko ng hotdog!
Lesson learned: Out of stock may sometimes really mean out of stock — not all forms of bribery will always get the job done!
